Play old submarine simulators. Games and simulators about sea ships for PC

Note: The main list includes games about submarines released on PC after the 2000s inclusive. All other projects related to submarines (for other platforms, older ones, etc.) are listed after the main material.

10. Deep Fighter (2000)

An exciting arcade simulator from Ubisoft that allows players to climb into a mini-submarine and go explore the vast depths of the ocean. Collecting resources, fighting underwater predators and pirates, completing various quests - the gameplay of Deep Fighter includes a huge number of exciting activities.

9. Sub Command (2001)

A rather complex submarine simulator that brought the fashion for realistic and hardcore games in this direction. Several exciting story campaigns and as many as three submarines to choose from, equipped with all the necessary instruments and weapons, will allow players to experience all the delights and hardships of the life of a submariner.

8. Dangerous Waters (2005)

A simulator of naval battles, in which great attention is paid to nuclear submarines. As in the case of Sub Command, newcomers to the genre who are completely unfamiliar with acoustics, navigation and other intricacies of the submarine fleet will find it extremely difficult to get used to Dangerous Waters. Because here you will not only have to manage individual submarines and other units of sea and air military equipment, taking into account real parameters and control features, but also often engage in global strategic planning of the actions of your fleet.

7. Enigma: Rising Tide (2003)

A simulator with a simple physical model and simple controls, which will allow even inexperienced sailors to feel the taste of naval battles. At the same time, Enigma: Rising Tide presents naval military equipment quite well. In addition to nuclear and non-nuclear submarines, destroyers, cruisers, battleships, corvettes and other types of ships are represented here. The story campaign is also diverse, bringing together more than 70 memorable missions.

Where to buy: The game could not be found on official digital services.

6. 1914: Shells of Fury (2007)

4. AquaNox series

A series that appeared in the 90s and to this day remains the best among arcade submarine simulators. The action takes place in the distant future, where governments and large corporations have built huge underwater stations to extract valuable resources, and then made life on the surface of the Earth completely impossible due to total destruction and radiation contamination. The player takes on the role of a mercenary, carrying out tasks for the numerous factions represented in the game.

3. Silent Hunter Series

The series is for those who are not afraid of difficulties, but, on the contrary, see additional opportunities in them. In addition to controlling the underwater vessel, the player, as the commander of the submarine, also takes care of his crew. Also, the Silent Hunter games, especially its latest parts, are distinguished by realistic graphics, detailed models of ships and submarines, and an abundance of sound and visual effects. Overall, this is one of the best series among realistic submarine simulators, for which there is also a decent number of official and fan-made additions. The latter can be downloaded absolutely free.

2. Subnautica (2018)

Subnautica is a unique game that can fully convey the atmosphere of life in the uncharted depths of the ocean, even if located on an alien planet. In terms of gameplay, Subnautica is a first-person survival game with an open world, the original concept of which makes the presence and use of all kinds of futuristic submarines a mandatory attribute. Spectacular, unusual, exciting and atmospheric - all these are well-deserved epithets addressed to Subnautica.

1. Cold Waters (2017)

In our opinion, the title of the best submarine simulator is well deserved by the game Cold Waters, released on PC in 2017 and dedicated to modern naval battles (after 1968). She was able to capture and convey as fully as possible the concept of the legendary Dangerous Waters (we wrote about it above), complementing the similar gameplay in the form of real-time action with many new original discoveries. For example, the game has a dynamically changing, completely unpredictable environment. This applies to both the state of water and weather (swell, temperature, precipitation, visibility, and so on), and the possibility of meeting with the enemy (the number of ships, their classes, tasks, and so on). Moreover, the element of randomness is characteristic of both story campaigns and individual missions present in Cold Waters, the number of which is constantly increasing due to the activity of modders.

AI is also based on a unique algorithm, which is based on a deep analysis of naval battle tactics involving ships of various classes. Models of ships, their weapons, equipment and behavioral characteristics on and under water correspond to reality. Finally, the game has an epic and tense atmosphere, dedicated to the naval confrontation of the major powers of the second half of the 20th century.

Other games about submarines: 688(I) Hunter/Killer, Fast Attack, Silent Steel, Knight of Sea Depth, U-Boat Simulator, Danger from the Deep, Sub Battle Simulator, Sub Culture.

Corsairs: To each his own!- technically based on the previous version of the Corsairs game series - Corsairs: City of Lost Ships. The main drawback of the game is its outdated graphics, which were criticized by fans and gaming industry experts. The gameplay is in general similar to the previously released series of the game "Corsairs".

The player has a choice of occupation: piracy, trading or completing additional tasks. Some additions were introduced into the novelty: for the first time in the series, crafting began to be used (independent creation of various potions, magical artifacts and ammunition by the main character), the system for improving ships was significantly redesigned, significant changes affected fencing, despite the fact that its animation remained the same. A distinctive feature of the game is the wide variety of plot and additional tasks. Genre: Simulator (Submarine)

Description: Sub Command is a hardcore submarine simulator. 1st in the last few years and at the same time - a fresh breath of style. The main difference between SC and its predecessors is that it is fun to play. The developers were able to make a highly realistic simulator of 3 submarines, but at the same time make it in such a way that anyone could understand it. It’s enough to complete three training missions - and you’re ready to go on a solid mission! And the tasks are very varied: in addition to classic torpedo wars, attacks on convoys and limitless maneuvers, more genuine missions await you - say, to sail unnoticed into the enemy’s camp, land troops and just as quietly leave.

Everything is very stylish and atmospheric. The videos are made in the best traditions of the Strike arcade series from EA - a very stylish and sophisticated video montage with real combat footage. The music fits well with the gameplay, and the sound is very detailed. The graphics are disappointing. They are outdated - not by a year or two, but for all three! The ship models are terrible for our time, and the local sea is so far from the “Corsairs” that I don’t even want to say it. On the other hand, you will spend most of the time giving commands, and not admiring the external “charms”. The game has an excellent encyclopedia of weapons with photographs and the ability to view the object of study in 3D (the models, like in the game, are poor). Have you waited? In a sense, the awakening of a dormant genre. P.S. The game has a fairly large encyclopedia with tactical and technical characteristics submarines and surface ships are a very nice thing...

Thanks to a unique troop management system, you can entrust control of a particular combat unit to artificial intelligence, thereby determining the degree of your participation in the gameplay and the difficulty of the game. You can control all the ships yourself or take control of only a few ships, or you can entrust AI with control of the entire campaign. And all this can be changed at any time during the game. And if a microphone is connected to your computer, we can give commands to your troops by voice. The game uses the Microsoft® Speech Recognition Engine. You can set any unit's course and speed, classify and assign targets, give orders to open fire, use protective equipment, and other orders. Successful performance at the beginning of the campaign gives you an advantage in future operations. The use of dynamic algorithms allows you to take into account your every action and develop an appropriate reaction to it from the game world, which will make each playthrough of the campaign different from the previous one. The game also has a quick mission generator if you can't wait to get started. Choose the type of mission and the combat units under your control - the generator does the rest. Quick missions are built from an infinite number of combinations of elements, the mission structure can include an unpredictable balance of forces, and they will take place in randomly generated locations - so everything will be new every time, you can rest assured. You can act as a server or join existing games on a local network or the Internet. You can play through the campaign in co-op mode or fight against each other, together with the players of your team, controlling individual ships or leading entire fleets and air units and thus organize large-scale battles at sea. Optimized network code allows you to support up to 24 players simultaneously. The developers paid great attention to the authentic simulation of radars and various systems for detecting enemy ships, as well as ship instruments. Instruments for determining flight characteristics, buoyancy, air resistance, sonars, radars, systems for identifying electromagnetic activity, magnetic anomalies and gravity - the visualization of these devices is performed at the highest level, which ensures maneuvering and combat in a detailed atmosphere of a real naval battle. Advanced three-dimensional graphics provide realistic display of the sea surface, reflections in water, weather conditions, for which the latest versions of pixel and vertex shader technology are used. 1. • If you love the sea and dream of becoming the captain of a submarine cruiser or missile carrier, then you probably love these types of games. We present to your attention short reviews of games about submarines. Check out the best games in this genre, maybe you will find a game to your liking that you will enjoy playing in your free time.

    Torpedo attack

I'll start with the most famous series of games about submarines - "Silent Hunter". The first part of this World War II submarine simulator was released in 1996 by Aeon Electronic Entertainment. Few people knew about this game; at that time it was not widely recognized. The second part of the game is being developed by Ultimation. Inc", and the rights to publish the game were transferred to Ubisoft Entertainment. The game became very complex, with an attempt to simulate all aspects of submarine control, including the struggle for survivability. The whole point of the game comes down to the fact that you are the captain of a German submarine and receive orders that must be followed. The purpose of these missions is specific actions that have a historical background. For example, the penetration of the U-47 submarine into Scapa Flow, passage through the Strait of Gibraltar or Operation Drumbeat. The most interesting thing is that the consultant of this game was the real captain of the fascist submarine Erich Topp. A huge disadvantage in playability is the ability to abort the mission and return to base at any time, even when you are bombed by destroyers and the boat is almost sunk.

In 2005, the third part of the simulator was released. "Silent Hunter III". The game becomes even more complicated; in addition to the complex control of the boat, the player is given the opportunity to manage the team, its rest and watch. Now the captain (player) selects specialists for himself, taking into account their business qualities and ranks, and then promotes them in rank and even rewards them. The player's career depends on how many ships and what tonnage are sunk. The game begins in 1939 and ends in 1945. You will have to change not only the equipment on the boats and the boats themselves, but even naval bases.

In the third part of the game, the graphics and scale of the outside world are significantly improved. Now you can see the interior of the boat and the submariners at their combat posts. As in previous parts, the player has the opportunity to be in the shoes of the captain of an underwater vessel, but unlike those parts, the game is free and arbitrary. The captain receives an order to be in a certain square of the Atlantic and along the way they transmit information about convoys that can be caught up and intercepted. Whether to do this or not, to attack the convoy or to let it pass, is up to you to decide.

The fourth part was published in 2007-2008 "Silent Hunter IV" and an update to this part. The game became more and more complicated and became more colorful. Now the fighting is moving to the Pacific theater, where the US and Japanese naval forces are confronting.

In 2010, the fifth part of this series was released, in which the action returned to the Atlantic. As in the third and fourth parts, you make a career as a submarine captain. The game has become even more demanding on hardware; starting the game or moving from a briefing to a mission takes a very long time, but the beauty of the seascapes is impressive.

All games in this series are designed for big fans and experts of the submarine fleet. If you don’t know anything about acoustics or navigation, then it’s almost impossible to play, much less beat the game. You have to read and delve into many pages of the manual. However, the game has simplified, almost arcade-like game modes. In this case, a complex simulator turns into a slot machine. For example, the ability to turn on an external camera when the boat is at a depth of 50 meters makes the use of acoustics ridiculous. You can safely turn on the free camera (free view) and see what is happening on the surface with your own eyes. Firing torpedoes, in simplified mode, is very stylized. The player turns the periscope and selects a surface target, then simply launches a torpedo and waits for it to overtake it. The choice of difficulty level even affects the speed of charging torpedoes, and the speed of sinking of already damaged ships; not all ships sink from a single hit. The game has many pros and cons, but despite this the game is a leader in this genre. The game will really appeal to fans of challenging games and real simulators.

Now consider the following game about submarines. "Under St. Andrew's Flag - 1914: Shells of Fury" came out in 2007. This is the first and last game of the h2f Informationssysteme company. As the title suggests, we are talking about submarines from the First World War. In my opinion, the project turned out to be a failure, poor graphics, controllability and playability. It is very difficult to understand what is happening in the game, the engine is very bad. The only window in which you can figure it out is the navigator's map, but there are also many disadvantages here. Everything is indicated approximately and conditionally; the boat can swim onto the coastline or run aground far from the shore.

The game features several boats from that era, including the minelayer Crab. You have to carry out missions to lay mines, patrol and sink enemy ships and ships. The game may appeal to fans of the history of the first combat boats; the game has a small 3D reference book.

The next review is about the game "Enigma. Secret fairway". This is an arcade submarine simulator where you need to shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Average graphics, primitive controls and a stupid selection of tasks and missions put this game on par with the previous one. There are no parallels with a real boat here. The presence of a radar that shows the situation at any distance and in any position of the boat makes it an indispensable element of the game. All other devices disappear.

    Enigma. Secret fairway

Enemy attacks come in waves. After aviation come ships, then boats, then repeats. There are many missions, different plots, but the meaning is the same: drown everyone. This game will appeal to fans of naval battles who do not want to make complex maneuvers and delve into complex controls.

The game is a simulator of modern submarines from different countries. You choose a submarine and a mission on it. The game is complex and not entirely clear. The main game window is the map. There is no direct control of the boat, like a real commander of a nuclear-powered submarine, you give orders almost by voice - choosing the desired command from the drop-down menus. You control speed, course, depth, acoustic mode, target identification and transmission of target designations, and other aspects.

The missions in the game are very different and are performed in a modern setting. For example, you need to get close to the Kamchatka Peninsula undetected, land a sabotage group there and retreat to the specified square. In another mission, it is necessary to sink a missile frigate, which is captured by terrorists and has nuclear warheads on board. Graphics are at a very low level. The periscope loses its meaning altogether; nothing is visible in it at all. In fact, you will play on the map, processing the information received and not having a beautiful visual picture. The game will appeal to fans of complex information simulators.

is a free 2D mini game that launches very quickly and runs in windowed mode. You can play this game at any time, even in the office, it instantly appears on the screen and does not slow down the system at all. This game can be freely downloaded from our website.

You control a small-class submarine. The task is to carry out a military campaign and sink as many enemy ships and submarines as possible. You have to break through minefields, avoid depth charges and torpedo attacks, charge batteries and repair damage. Based on the results of the entire combat campaign, the best players will be included in the online leaderboard. The game is very easy to control and learn and will appeal to fans of mini games. Have a nice time!

Write if you know other games about submarines. Thank you!

Of course, everyone who grew up in Soviet times or, at least, in the early nineties, remembers very well the children's hit - the slot machine - “Underwater Hunt”. It was a periscope that needed to be aimed at enemy ships. Every boy in the Soviet Union dreamed of trying on the uniform of a commander, which is why this machine gun was probably popular then.

So what now? Did the modern powerful game industry really not bother to create a submarine simulator? But here, it turns out, everything is not so simple. Oh times, oh morals! There have certainly been attempts, but as it turns out, creating an interesting and dynamic submarine simulator is an almost impossible task. Judge for yourself - what is the main thing in games? Fun, dynamism, speed of unfolding of the situation. What could be dynamic in the activities of a submarine? Her task is to get close to the target for a long time, and then strike and hide for a long time, escaping persecution. This is boring, guys.

Therefore, it turns out that those who love space and wind, high waves and salty spray remain deprived. But still, several interesting and even, one might say, specific projects in this genre were released. Among them, Silent Hunter is one of the most interesting and reliable. Let's take a closer look at the youngest part.

Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic

The submarine simulator SH 5 is an interesting attempt by the glorious company Ubisoft to give this specific genre its way to the masses. The concept for the fifth part was originally conceived with an emphasis on arcade style. Yes, of course, all the serious components of the series remained, but a lot of purely fun things were also added. For example, you can now navigate a submarine using the first-person camera. In addition to purely combat gadgets, now you can simply talk about life with crew members. Naturally, in between fights. By the way, this gives you the perfect opportunity to view a perfectly recreated WWII submarine. Eh, but once upon a time children could not even dream of this.

The first thing you need to know is that the submarine simulator game is a complex thing: you need to think and be able to calculate a lot of things (mathematically). In SH 5, the arcades were added just enough to attract new players, but in all other respects the game is more like an educational simulator than a game.

The disadvantages of this submarine simulator are the sea. Here there is the need to be a real captain, and to calculate the type of ship to make a decision about its attack. Yes, yes, forget about the red enemy/friend marker: now, having seen the ship, open the reference book and begin to identify the ship by its silhouette. And God forbid you drown yours.

In 2013, the series went online. Thus, the developers tried to develop a specific niche. However, the online version turned out to be so simple that regular players simply left the project. The concept has been changed. Who knows what the future holds for us? Maybe a simulator of a nuclear submarine with which you will have to lock yourself in your room for six months - until the next ascent?
